Auctions are a part of life in the Holmes County region. The Amish maintain their rural way of living with auctions for livestock and horses, produce, farm supplies, hay and more. There are also furniture, quilt and craft auctions as well. Events are usually found every day but Sunday.
Some regular auctions include:
Mt Hope Auction: Produce, Livestock and Horses.
Sugarcreek: Cattle Auction, Horse & Tack Auctions
Farmerstown: Livestock Auction., Eggs and Produce
Kidron: Hay & Straw and Livestock Auctions
Outside the auctions themselves, you will find families selling baked goods, crafts and furniture and produce.
Benefit auctions are a great way to directly engage in Amish Country while giving back to the hosting community. The July Rainbow of Hope Auction helps people with medical needs, for example.
At the Wise School near Charm, the Doughty Run School Benefit Auction on July 8th will include an auction and flea market, quality furniture, great Amish breakfast and lunch (including fry pies, barbecue chicken, noodles), baked goods, ice cream made onsite, and much more. The auction starts at 8:30 Saturday, with a furniture preview on Friday evening.
